Aldie Mill Historic Park, 39401 John Mosby Highway, Aldie VA 20105.
The 17thMississippi spent the early months of the war in and around the village of Aldie, and used the Aldie Rectory as their military hospital. Join us at the Aldie Mill for a living history presentation of Confederate troops demonstrating military drilling and camp life, and reminiscing about their time in the village.
The 17th Mississippi will also be on hand Oct 15 and 16, 2011.
Sunday, August 28th
1:00-5:00, Mt. Zion Church: Eyewitness to the Civil War
Mt. Zion Church, 40309 John Mosby Highway, Aldie VA 20105.
Tour the 1851 Old School Baptist Church, site of a Union hospital during parts of the war, and scene of the July 6, 1864 fight between Confederates led by John Mosby and Union troops from Massachusetts and New York. Local historian Wynne Saffer will offer tours of the church and cemetery, as Union doctors explain the medical practices in place during the war.

Mt. Zion Church: Eyewitness to the Civil War Encampment
Mt. Zion Church, 40309 John Mosby Highway, Aldie VA 20105.
Visitors will be treated to a two-day Union encampment at the site of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, used as a hospital during the war. On-going medical demonstrations, cooking & camp life, musket firing demonstrations, and other activities will be offered. On Sunday at 12:30 there will be a Union Prayer Service led by Rev. John Sheehan.
